Probably the most pleasant surprise of my week… finding out there is a Miami Vice inspired record label blossoming in Shankill, Dublin. Electro Call Records was founded by Dean Cahill last year and it’s doing more than its part to keep the 80s alive! Cahill, reared in Paris, was deeply influenced by the French capital, he grew up surrounded by French Kiss Electro and new wave Parisien record labels. It had a lasting effect on him and 12 months ago he made the decision to move to Dublin to set up his very own label.
Since then they’ve released a number top notch EPs, everything from Techno to Italo and Disco to Dubstep, all with that iconic 80s feel. Think Miami Beach, flowery shirts, bikinis, rollers, aviator sunglasses, cocaine and red corvettes. I know there’s a lot of you out there with a fondness for the era, these boys are right down your street. Make sure to delve deep into their Soundcloud, you won’t be disappointed!
