Mihalis Safras’ Out Of The Box has been our go-to album for the last week. Ranging from the deep side of Tech House right through to banging Techno, it’s a very nice way to spend an hour! The standouts for us include:
Hotness – The first track on the album and what a way to set the tone. It’s deep, the bassline is wicked and there’s sexy little vocal snippets riding over the top. Even the hat/kick combo by itself is enough to get you going. Try and resist the head bop, it won’t happen!
Beach – This one stood out as a particular Tech House gem. It’s got that iconic Toolroom ring to it, sure to go down a treat with regular listeners of the British label. It’s got a funky edge and some lovely percussion.
Pianista – This is where things start to get serious. Pianista is without doubt one of the nicest tracks I’ve heard all summer. No surprise to see it rocketing up the charts. The coupling of some irresistable piano keys and a filthy industrial bassline makes for an incredible track.
Definitely worth checking out the full release for yourself, not only does it make for some great listening but it’s also packed with dancefloor weapons, it’s something the djs out there might find interesting! If you like what your hearing it’s available now from Toolroom Records.
