Time To JACK: Paul C & Paolo Martini

When We Dip
Events
8 January 2014

After an exemplary 2013 for house music in Ireland, it’s very much as-you-were in 2014 as the Button Factory awaits the arrival on Friday of Ibiza favourites Paul C and Paolo Martini. Picking up where one Italian duo left off, after Flashmob’s two Christmas shows with Pete Tong, Dublin promoters JACK (at the helm of many of 2013’s biggest shows) welcome another duo that have made huge waves in the last 12 months, and whom look set to repeat such progress in the coming year.

With releases on a string of major labels, and a wealth of industry experience at their disposal, Paolo Martini and Paul C are a serious force to be reckoned with. From Hot Creations to Moon Harbour to Paolo Martini’s own Paul’s Boutique Records, their stellar work has been fronted on behalf of, and alongside, the biggest names around. Evidence of this comes in the form of their six individual EP releases in the last year, as well as their remix duties on a further three. Their release on Hot Creations drew particular praise, with the huge title track “Get This!”  appearing frequently in sets at Ibiza’s Paradise last summer. Embodying the same formula as many of their other releases, the track is underpinned with a masterful bass-line and distorted, inscrutable vocal samples.

Their “Colors” EP in November provided just the cure for the dark winter days, with its irresistible up-beat groove demonstrating the capabilities of these two in creating a strong floor-filling sound. That’s what these guys have been doing for years; mastering the sound of the club while stamping their own substantial print wherever they go, and in everything they create. To see what years of perfecting the art looks like, and to see one of the most in-form, in-demand duos available, get down to the Button Factory on Friday night and get over those January blues.

Local lads Eoin Smyth and Shane O’Dowd are on support for the night. Tickets are still available on Ticketmaster and doors are at 11pm.
