Triple Threat At District 8: Waze & Odyssey, Citizen and Kobhi

12 November 2014

Dubliners are spoilt for choice right now, spoilt rotten. But the fact that our little city has been overindulged with countless acts and performers also has its benefits. Namely, a few key promoters have upped their game considerably. Those behind new popup venue District 8 definitely deserve to be included in that bracket. Having already treated the capital to a deluge of fine techno acts they have now began to branch out and this Friday’s lineup is certainly a doozie. Headlined by Waze & Odyssey with support from the very talented Citizen and Irishman Kobhi, they have laid on a fine spread for the clubbing public.

Waze & Odyssey rose to prominence with tracks like ‘Love The Burns (Hot Enough)’ and ‘Feelin You’, which have given them a stellar reputation amongst cultured dance fans. There is also the little matter of the anthem that is Bump and Grind, a clever rework of Mr R Kelly, which has been a secret weapon of many a dj for the past few years. Now once more dominating the airwaves of BBC Radio 1, following the eventual clearing of the sample, the pair have never been in higher demand. Allied to their own quality output they have also found time to curate one of WWD’s favourite labels in Street Tracks, giving breaks to the likes of Citizen who will play alongside them on Friday and of course Irishman Ejeca.

Citizen has already had a successful debut in Ireland under the Strictly Deep banner and he returns with an enhanced reputation and a host of new fans. With a bagful of succesful releases on the likes of 2020 Vision and the aforementioned Street Tracks, this guy seems like he is here to stay. He will be joined on the night by Irishman Kobhi who is slowly building a reputation for himself thanks to his upfront house cuts and interesting live performances.

WWD recommended.

Tickets: Waze & Oddyssey, Citizen and Kobhi at District 8
