Serbian producer Marko Milicevic aka Gramophonedzie relights the fire, reinventing the project with a darker live element. This week we caught up the hit-maker to get the lowdown on the new venture, Marko filled us in on the concept, the new music and everything the coming months have to hold for the Gramophonedzie Live Experience.
What’s more, we’ve been treated to an exclusive mix, showcasing the new sounds of the Belgrade producer. Check it out below!
WWD: Thanks for joining us!
Thank you for inviting me.
WWD : Where are you right now? What’s new in the world of Gramophonedzie?
In studio, mixing new release for GLE. There is bunch of exciting stuff that I can’t
wait to share with the world.
WWD: Talk to us about the new release “Bitches Know’! Where did you put the track together?
In between band rehearsals, vocalist of my band and me wondered off and the tune
came together from one riff. Then I tested it in club, it went great and song was
born.
WWD: What can you tell us about the concept behind the new Gramophonedzie Live Experience project?
GLE started as “fun project” but then we realised it could evolve into something new, serious and something interesting. I have a pleasure to work with a group of great musicians and I was able to totally “click” with all of them. It’s all very exciting.
Whole thing is actually me dj-ing and guiding the musicians, and doing it live. Its like a big music puzzle made of my songs, loops and musicians playing together, sometimes there are jam sessions as well. But there is no playlist like usual bands have. I select tunes I would like to play at the moment and they all get along. During the shows if we feel that crowd wants something different, then we jam, or change our direction and everything is made at the moment. That is the concept we like, to be TRUE live.
WWD: What are your plans for Gramo Recordings over the coming months?
After two more club oriented releases there will be few with GLE, one that is mentioned before, that I’m mixing at the moment, is planned for end of July. It will be few selected tunes that will end on album later this year.
WWD: Production wise, what can we expect from yourself in the next few months?
Its all about the band and album we are preparing. There will be few remixes and a few of my own releases for other labels. Hopefully there will be a lot of various stuff, less and more commercial, but all in a jazz manner.
WWD: One track you can see having a major impact this Summer?
I believe Kydus – Jupiter Rising will be big this year.
WWD: What was the best party you’ve ever played?
I was very lucky there were few best ones. Brazil, Japan, Romania come to my mind.
WWD: Any parties you’re still to tick off the bucket list?
Oh yes, bunch of parties 😀 I still need to check parties on Fiji and still never played
Pacha or Space on Ibiza.
WWD: Before we sign off, are there any other big dates on the horizon for you that we should be aware of?
Schengen Festival in Slovenia on 1st SAugust should be nice, GLE in full effect.
