Derrick May at District 8 [Preview + Ticket Comp.]

When We Dip
Dublin, Events, Techno
14 October 2015

A slice of Detroit descends upon Dublin’s District 8 on Friday night. A rather large slice.

In terms of techno pioneers, there are not many bigger than Derrick May. Derrick was one of the founding fathers of techno and his contribution to the movement continues to this day. His passion and his dedication to the cause seem strong as ever and no doubt this will be evident on Friday 16th in Dublin’s leading club, District 8.

As you can tell from the Slices feature above, there are few who are as passionate about what they do as Derrick. He speaks of a circus that dance music is encapsulated in. But if you were to come on Friday you would not be coming to see a clown, you’d be coming to see the ringmaster.

Derrick has always been a charismatic figure and it’s this charisma which is so evident in his music. You could say his music represents his soul, or you could say his soul represents music. Either would be true. A quick listen to any of his tracks would tell you that.

Known to many as ‘The Innovator’, his music has never disappointed. And while he doesn’t produce the tracks anymore, he certainly digs them out and wows crowds with his energetic dj sets full of music that actually means something.

If you make the wise decision of heading along to District 8 on Friday we’ve no doubt he’ll teach you a lil’ something along the, no doubt he’ll be a maestro and absolutely no doubt he’ll hammer motherfuckers from start to finish! Get yourselves down!
