Worthy – Lower & Slower EP (DFTD)

19 January 2016

Originating from Washington DC. Worthy has captivated many people with his input towards the scene including being one of the four original Dirtybird founders and also being founder to his own label Anabatic Records. Not only has he had a major impact towards the scene but also done damage with some previous releases such as his album ‘Disbehave’, showcasing how experimental one artist can become with a genre.

Moving on to his next and debut release forthcoming on ‘Defected Records’ sub label ‘DFTD’. Leading the way into the more serious side of the EP welcomes ‘This Time’. In the early stages of the track a dominant bass-line is brought in gradually building it’s power, it’s a game-changing aspect of the track. Layered with gritty fx and echoing vocals, it keeps us interested for what he has to come next. As we come to the break an explosion of emotion is captured with the vocals and ambient pads – completely refreshing and giving us a feel of just what the heavy bass-line holds. The moment the kick and bass-line combo comes into play it’s nothing short of a rolling masterpiece.

The caption of the final track of the EP ‘Lower & Slower’ gives us the impression of what it’s all about. It portrays more of a tech-house flavour with low cutting jackin’ drums and a bouncy bass-line. Not so serious as ‘This time’ but has the same effect it’s setting out to achieve on the dance-floor.

Release date: 01 February 2016
