Not too long ago House heavyweights, Dusky, made an announcement on Record Store Day that their most recent release ‘Buckets’ would be sold exclusively in the vinyl format. This isn’t the first time we have seen an artist or record label release material exclusively on vinyl and it is looking very much like the start of a new trend.
Early last month Criminal Hype announced a new sub-label, Criminal Wax, with the intent to release exclusively on vinyl (with some select digital distribution partners). In the next couple months we expect more announcements about forthcoming vinyl releases from the underground community. Stepping up on the first Criminal Wax release are UK producers Jacky and Jey Kermis.
Oh, and if you are trying to get your hands on one of those exclusive Dusky records good luck! They only pressed 500 copies which were physically sold in record stores in the UK on Record Store Day.”
