‘At The Turn of Equilibrium’ is Dundov’s fifth album and it’s one that explores a a broader set of moods and themes. Petar Dundov has been a prominent and widely respected name within underground dance music for over two decades and his latest album feels like his most accomplished work to date.
“Expect the story of life as a self-reinforcing structure that never reaches the perfect balance. The concept behind the album is to bring awareness that the balance is an illusion and that’s why it’s called ‘At The Turn of Equilibrium’. Petar Dundov
The album consists of eight tracks that are layered in texture and rhythmic groove that shape the album into something truly great. Dundov’s attention to detail is second to none and he goes on to explain; “This time, in addition to using more sound textures I introduced parts with classical instruments like piano and strings. As the album is about life and how it evolves, from purely a physical body to a thinking person, the songs are sequenced from faster, simple-rhythmic, cyclic, body moving tracks to slower, more complex layered, beatless mind tracks.”
The album opens with, ‘Then Life’, a beautifully constructed track with an ambient feel and captivating melodies. The album moves swiftly into a darker feel with ‘Lattice’, this one flows effortlessly together with some soothing percussion and textured melodies. ‘Before It All Ends’ kicks things up a notch with its rumbling bass as it slowly transitions into a flavorsome listening experience, whilst ‘Midnight Orchestra’ takes complete hold as it ups the tempo and drives the album into a hypnotic state of emotion. ‘Mist’ is simple yet absorbing and transitions wonderfully into ‘New Hope’, an ambient and enchanting number. ‘Missing You’ creates that all important feel good vibe, one that moves you with its complex melodies. Bringing the album to a close is ‘Everlasting Love’, the build up on this one is breathtaking and this synth driven melodic groove is simply out of this world.
Dundov leaves no stone unturned on ‘At The Turn of Equilibrium’. His introduction of classical instruments and simple rhythmic grooves really shines through and shapes it into a captivating and powerful piece of work.
