Subject celebrates 9th birthday with Carl Craig & The Black Madonna

When We Dip
Dublin, Europe, Events
1 June 2016

One of the more venerable Dublin promoters, Subject, turns 9 this year and is celebrating the landmark in style. This Sunday they welcome Detroit and Chicago behemoths Carl Craig and The Black Madonna for a very special party in Opium Rooms. Even for a group that has welcomed the likes of Kerri Chandler, Steffi and Jackmaster in the short time since Christmas, this represents one hell of a party.

Carl Craig is, in no uncertain terms, a titan of Detroit techno. Always with one eye looking toward what’s coming next, he has managed to maintain a fresh outlook on music and life throughout the breadth of a 30-year career.

It would be unfair to refer to The Black Madonna as a rising star, given her established position as one of the best DJs in the world – recently being given the no. 37 spot on RA’s Top 100 list. However, the nature and speed of her rise has been so meteoric it is difficult to see this as the peak of her career, and she’s sure to only continue laying down her transcendent blend of soul-driven, euphoric house. One of the best doing it at the moment.
