Cadenza artist and Frame Sounds owner Pablo Marco is fresh from a whopper new four track release on Art Department’s Sunday Money Music. The ‘Day Before Last’ EP is minimal, groovy collaboration with Visionquest’s Shaun Reeves. It dropped in minimum quanities and exclusively on wax. Marco took a break from a busy touring schedule this week to talk us through the release, while also sharing an update on his own adventures. What’s more, he’s supplied a lush exclusive recording for the When We Dip fam!

WWD: Thanks for joining us Pablo! You’ve been travelling a lot lately, can you give us an insight into what you’ve been up to?

Hey guys, how you doing? thanks for having me here too, Yes, i been shacking it quite a bit lately. just back from this amazing festival in the french-swiss-german border, called Cesarhof, was really really special, i met so many cool artists and interesting people.

Also i am playing regularly in zoo project, one of my favs partys in the world, the vibe and location is just unbeatable, i love the energy there, thats a party well put together.
There is couple of villa partys i’ll be playing at in August and September in Ibiza, i can’t wait for these ones and yeah more gigs in Madrid, Israel, Barcelona…..

WWD: You’ve just released a brand new EP with Shaun Reeves on Sunday Money Music, can you take us through the creative process behind the EP?

Yeah just out today, i am super proud of this EP, and very happy that it is in such a good hands. the process was very fun, in Shaun’s studio in Ibiza, it took a while to finish the 4 tracks, was a special project cause we only used machines, so no loops no pre-made staff was used, only machines and synths.
It was a great journey cause the studio is in such an amazing spot and also felt very family time, cause i met shaun in London and we had some good moments,, this time in ibiza he got Lucy a cavalier dog and shaun was taking care of this kind of abandoned dog , called Palante, the pair was exactly like the princess and the vagabond and there was a special link between all of us.

WWD: It’s available vinyl-only. Does it mean a little more to you when a release comes only on wax?

Yeah Vinyl is a special format, every release becomes a bit more timeless and present, cause you can hang it on your wall, you can touch it, look at it, smell it, test it, brings you memories.. sounds better, and yeah is a piece of art all over so i guess does touch my heart a bit more, specially with such a good artwork and in such a good company.

WWD: What’s new with your label Frame Sounds?

Yeah, Frame Sounds is here, the 002 is having great feedback, everybody is talking about it and got played by Dewalta in Sunwaves with some videos of random people all over YouTube,, so very happy about it. The VA includes tunes from Javier Carballo, KOKO, Lifer, Rick Maia, Javier Moreno and myself, some are collabs and yeah the 002 is coming soon, everything is ready i only need to make a last touch and thats it the baby will be out soon.
The 003 is going to come of the hands of a better known artists, is going to be a killer VA, cause i meet such a good bunch of artists in Cesar of,, so i am selecting a very refined selection of tunes from all these big guys, so yeah will be especially good 003.

WWD: How do you find balancing the label work with all the travelling?

Not easy to balance, communication wise is difficult but has positives sides, like to be able to meet new artists constantly that will collaborate with the label and expand the brand of course. I am not in a rush, this is a long time process, soon will become timeless.

WWD: Aside from music, what’s been your highlight of the last few months?

Outsides Music? jaja, man i been trying to think what are the highlights besides music but not easy to find! Welll let me think……..
yeah i just got married, got 3d kid coming! this time is a girl! got promoted in the company i work for, got a house in the beach, a big fat TV on the living room and i got finally married for second time! happy days bro! jajaja
no man i am kidding i am really happy with my life like it is,, focusing on music, being able to travel, to break with my routine constantly , i was living in london for many years in the same studio and now i been all over i lived in Madrid and Ibiza after that but i am still looking for my ideal place,, i think Barcelona might be the one! so yeah thats my highlight i found a place to live where i feel super good for now! i am very thankful to the universe for the life i got to live, that’s the main jackpot.
