When We Dip’s regular readers have seen this name around a few times this year and that should be no surprise once 2016 has been such a bright year for this Brazilian talent. On top of extremely successful recent periods, Brazilian techno diva ‘BLANCAh’ delivers her master-piece: a bundle of extraordinary creations that shape a mighty album release. Titled ‘Nest’, it’s of course being hosted by Steyoyoke, her home and family label. This release shall see the light of day on September the 30th.

We’ve been lucky enough to be taken on this journey and it’s breathtaking to say the least. Once more, she showcases her outstanding production skills delivering a set of timeless tunes. We have now the privilege to premiere one of the most iconic songs from the album, sort of a climax to this story. A 15 minutes track that starts really light and grows slowly, leading to a flood of trippy elements. It really summarizes the concept of the album. You can check it right here.

The album actually tells a story. A beautiful one, by the way. Each of the songs is dedicated to a different moment of the lifecycle of a bird. ‘Learning To Fall’, ‘Learning To Fly’, ‘Queda do Ninho’ which in Portuguese means ‘Fall From The Nest’, all of these struggles from that cycle are brilliantly illustrated by a masterful usage of synthetic sounds, musical keys, creative arrangements and combinations.

Five out of the ten songs are sung by herself, the last one in Portuguese. As you could expect from a legit BLANCAh release, deep and astonishing vocals that emerge as the ultimate instrument, intensifying the hypnotic tone of the melodies. Distant synths, sort of a trademark on her productions, guarantee to get you surrounded by a hazy and dark atmosphere as the album goes.

Dancefloor is not quite the focus here, there’s a lot more involved. She summons a range of sensations to compose these melodies and shares them with the world in the form of this complex narrative. A ratification of her accurate sense for self-expression.

It’s assertive to say that Steyoyoke’s own Ethereal Techno is reaching maturity when a release like this is presented. It is certainly one of its best approaches so far. BLANCAh proves once more that no only she fully understands it, she helps fashion it herself.
