Now we won’t blame you if you haven’t heard of these two prior to reading this. Not only are they two serious underground talents, they’re producers from a genre of music that hasn’t been showcased on When We Dip before. Stemming from the realm of liquid drum and bass, ALB and Subdivision are two artists that prove bigger isn’t always better. Using minimalistic melodies and soft synths, these two provide the perfect taster to liquid drum and bass, with a banging remix of PIN – Sorrow Floats that will leave any listener wanting more. This one comes courtesy of fellow drum and bass artist Mitekiss’ label ‘Goldfat Records’, an underground powerhouse putting out some of the best liquid around. It’s time to turn on, tune in and take a dip into liquid DnB.

‘Gently does it’ is they say, and that’s exactly how this track starts. A soothing chime plays in the background while an echoing vocal sample gets faded out intermittently. Everything stops, giving way to a soft beep, before the hi hats are brought in at a fast tempo. These are layered on top of a vibrating bassline that runs in the background, forming the perfect backdrop as it’s pitch gently changes. The earlier vocal sample plays alongside both elements, resounding around the song with a poignancy that would give any raver Goosebumps, and that delicate chime is brought back in to give the tune an almost mystical feel. It finishes how it began, the hi hats are stopped and the bassline reaches its end, to give way to the soft sounds that started the track.

ALB and Subdivison serve up a big remix with this one. Its calm and peaceful but still manages to retain that inherent DnB vibe that always gets people going, with a sound that would certainly feel at home in a rave. If liquid bangers are what you’re after, then look further than these two.
