Just ahead  of Teksupport this weekend with Marco Carola and Danny Tenaglia, we had a chance to get a word in with supporting act and NY up and comer Jesse Calosso. The rising Bronx-born producer is making certain that he is force in the tech-house scene with his fast-paced New York styled beats and huge releases Cuttin’ Headz and Tuskegee. Catch the full interview with Jesse on his inspirations, biggest moments of 2017, and close friendship with the Martinez Bros.

It’s looking like a bright 2018 for you, Jesse! What’s new?

Really just been locked in the studio all winter. Too cold to do anything else.

In your own words, how would you say the NYC house scene differs from the rest of the world?

Now there is not so many big clubs here. There is a lot of warehouse and after hours parties going on. Which are very popular right now

Who are some of your personal inspirations, musically or otherwise?

For me my dad is always going to be an inspiration how hard he works and smart he is. And musically Paul Johnson, Dj Slugo, Ricardo Villabos and The Martinez Bros

If you could remember that one moment where house music connected with you for one of the first time, where was it and how was it?

Growing up I was always around it. My dad would always have music playing. A lot of disco stuff. He came from the era of The Loft and Paradise Garage. But for me the moment I really connected with it is when I met the Martinez bros for the first time. And they knew all the classic disco my dad would play. So being around them I understood it more. And now I just can’t enough.

By now, we should all know that you and The Martinez Brothers are always holding it down for each other. How has your relationship with them evolved both as friends and as fellow musicians in the studio?

They are the ones who got me started. We would chill everyday after school. Whether it was showing each other music, mixing or just playing some video games. Not much has changed for us just we don’t get to see each other as much with our schedules. But I’m still learning from those guys from watching them play to working in the studio.

Who are some up and coming artists we should be listening to?

Well my boy Jean Pierre is killing it right now we have so much new music and he has so much music coming out this year. Another friend of mine Blas Cordero has a lot of stuff in the works.

How did growing up in New York City influence your style of production?

I first got into disco so that has always been an influence for me, but going out more and hitting a lot of these underground parties like resolute, I got more into the minimal sound. So that’s another influence for my music

What was your most memorable moment from 2017?

I’d say going b2b with The Martinez Bros at Circoloco was definitely a major highlight. It was the week before closing and the place was a madhouse.

What do you have in store for 2018?

Def have a lot of music I’m going to put out. I have an upcoming collab with my boy Jean Pierre on Leftroom with remix from Joey Daniel and AJ Christou out in March.
