We had the pleasure to talk with the upcoming Spanish producer ‘Wavekiki’ about his vision behind his musical project, his new EP on Nightcolours Recordings and his production ritual. Enjoy !

WWD: Hey Wavekiki. Thanks for having a chat with us and we hope you’re well today!
My pleasure !

WWD : So, first off, if you could just give us a bit of background about where you come from and your relation to electronic music.
I think I walked into a club of electronic music when I was 12 (I’m a real clubber! ha ha) but what truly marked me is my first encounter with a ‘Korg MS20’ that an old ex-boyfriend of my sister let me. I was 15 and I spent a hole summer experimenting with all the sounds that this machine could do, I really enjoyed it. Then I spent 10 years learning piano and composing my firsts themes and as soon as I could I bought my first synthesiser: a ‘Korg Radias’

WWD:  Congrats on the release of the new ‘The Superhero’ EP. What’s inspired these productions?
The Summer, parties, the people I meet in these parties, the beach, the sun…

WWD : What made Nightcolours Recordings the ideal home for this EP?
I was listening to Javier Orduña on Soundcloud, I really liked what he does and we did speak some time through Facebook. One day I sent him over ‘The Superhero’ and helped it a lot, then it came ‘Pulse’.

WWD : Do you have a production ritual? If so, what is it?
Sure! I smoke, dance, drink beer… my studio is like a little party everyday! ha ha

WWD : Is there an overarching vision guiding your artist project?
As it says on the words that name this label: ‘All day I dream’ that’s Wavekiki’s spirit

WWD : If you could have an extra 4 hours in the day, what would you spend it doing?
I would compose a piano solo album

WWD : Can we expect more new music from you in the near future?
Of course! I’m gonna release soon a remix for Brigade Crew, on Suruba Records, then I’ve got 4 or 5 tracks almost finished but what excites me the most is a remix I’m gonna do for my friend Hraach, which hopefully will be ready this spring.

WWD : Cheers for speaking to us today Wavekiki. We are looking forward to hearing more of your music this year.
Thank you guys for your support, I hope you like it!
