Alex Preda is next up on Matador’s RUKUS label with his Mingea EP, featuring three original cuts with remixes from Cuartero and The Drifter. Based in Amsterdam, Preda’s Romanian roots run deep in his music. He also cites Vangelis and Jarre as influences, his own music is crafted with sleek expertise and a distinct flair. ‘Abut’ delivers a syncopated beat pattern peppered with mysterious, hollow bongo-like sounds. It’s a cleverly twisted discord with singing synths and all unified by a solid bass. Maeve stalwart The Drifter puts his deft touch to  ‘Abut’, bringing to the table a hypnotic remix that combines a tight, pulsating groove and an engrossing melodic edge. Check it out in full premiere only on When We Dip today.
