After their Mental Scapes and French Kicks first EPs on Pont Neuf Records, french duo ALVA are back with a new 5-tracks maxi Steam Lights on their own imprint Virage Records. They carry on in their deep/club vibe while bringing in some new and fresh sound designs. The record begins with “All Very Slow”, a night-feel track with various deep sequences. It continues with “75 Bounce”, a collaboration with Davelly (from Make It Deep crew), switching from a jazzy rhodes chord progression to layers of syn- th. The A side ends with the club mix of “All Very Slow”, with a powerful bassline and a stronger rhythm section. “Steam Lights” – which gives it names to the EP – opens B side with layers of textures and deeper sounds highlighted by showery pads. “Mirage” closes the EP with hypnotic melodies and an energy fuelled bass/kick combo.
