24 August 2018

Polymath was started by UK live artist Third Son back in 2016 with a concept to take onboard artists who can produce music which is fully influenced by their own unique perspective, imagination and style. This gives the artist freedom to share their own visions and push their creativity boundaries. “Every Polymath release is an experiment” – adds Joe. These experiments have come from Digitaria, Citizen Kain, Darlyn Vlys and the up and coming talent Anii. Polish born, London based Anii, who is now a regular with the legendary Kompakt, returns to Polymath with her ‘Desire’ EP this August. Classical music played an important role in her childhood – “It was a great example of how rich and wonderful music can be, which is something I always try to replicate in my own productions’.

Whilst both original tracks on this release are brooding with texture, ’Desire’ is the more downtempo cut. Energetic percussion tangled and sonar like stabs with the welcome addition of a violin. ‘Fear’ takes it up a notch, with a growling bass, dark rippling synths and a soaring vocal. And finally, established producer Locked Groove – puts a linear style techno spin on ‘Desire’. Here you’ll find synthetic modulations scattered across the mix, with that ever so punchy kick drum. You can listen to the full premiere of ‘Fear’ exclusively on When We Dip. Enjoy !
