Ten years ago, a young producer turned up on Secret Cinema’s doorstep with a hard disk full of literally hundreds of unreleased tracks. He had been sitting alone in his parents’ loft making music for over a decade by then.  The young producer ended up being one of the reasons for founding the Gem Records label. His name…? Egbert! His new EP celebrating ten years of performing live will be released on Gem Records August 17 and includes remixes of two of his biggest Gem releases: Straktrekken and Haasten.

The release is accompanied by a documentary about Egbert’s career (watch the first 4 out of 10 below). It tells the story of exploding out of anonymity to playing for 10.000 people after Sven Väth in 3 months’ time. It also focusses on the contrast between Egbert’s busy touring schedule and the feeling of complete and utter zen while kitesurfing at sea; A hobby that got so serious that the Dutch producer is now a bona fide kiting talent.

The two 2018 versions of Straktrekken and Haasten take the originals and transport them to today’s dance floor and are guaranteed to fill those floors after rigorous testing by the man himself. The tracks have remained in Egbert’s live set since their release and thus were changed ever so slightly over time as Egbert updated his set to match the reaction on the dancefloor.

Stay tuned as Gem Records roll out their release plan for the second half of 2018 including the long awaited follow up of Séance by label boss Secret Cinema.
