microCastle begins 2019 by welcoming Petros Manganaris aka Echonomist to the label for his debut EP. Hailing from Thessaloníki, the Greek artist has been a fixture of the electronic underground for over two decades. Long a favourite of the world’s largest DJs, Petros’ timeless style often finds him sitting in a creative space between house and techno. Now making his much anticipated microCastle debut, Echonomist presents his ‘Strymonas’ artist showcase.

Comprised of four tracks, the ‘Stymonas’ collection is a blend of astral storyboards and raw analog electronics. Beginning with the commanding beats and elastic funk of ‘Grace’ before segueing perfectly into the spastic sirens and cosmic arpeggios of ‘November Clouds’, it’s Petros’ technical excellence and boundless creativity which shine through here. Already a favourite of Frankey & Sandrino and Rampa, it’s ‘Doudouka’ which anchors the collection’s halfway mark. A hypnotic piece melded by afro sensibilities and a deep meditative pulse. Rounding out the release is the dramatic title selection ‘Strymonas’. Surrounded by much hype after being played by Ame last year; it’s buzzing low end, bleepy theme and waves of euphoric tension have been etched in the hearts of dance floors around the world.  With the ‘Strymonas’ showcase, Echonomist makes an impressive microCastle debut, further demonstrating his uncanny knack for crafting avant garde electronica; complete with inspired storyboards and imaginative sound design that entices the listener to get lost in the music.
