Beatfreak Recordings welcome back the American based artist Haze-M with his brand new EP ‘Reflexion’. He is now among the greatest sound producers of his generation and his tracks are played by some of the best DJs like Tale of Us, Solomun, Richie Hawtin, Maceo Plex and others. In the pack, you can also find a stunning interpretation of the Munich based producer and one of the most respected within melodic house and deep techno – Julian Wassermann. WWD: Hi Julian, thank you for chatting with us today! Tell us what led you down the path of wanting to be a DJ and producer?

Hey guys! After my first club visits I was completely fascinated by electronic music. I really wanted to learn that, both DJing and producing. So I taught myself everything and still learn today 🙂 My first gig was at a private Halloween party of a friend of mine where I wanted to play with two other friends. Eventually I was the only one who had the courage to do it and this was how it all started.

WWD: In the end of 2019 how would you describe it? What are some of the highlights for you during this year?

This year was full of personal highlights in my career. 2019 was definitely my most creative year with lots of releases. Especially the releases on Kompakt and the current one on Terminal M were one of my highlights. Releasing on those big label names was always a distance goal of me I could finally reach. Beyond that I founded my own label VISHN and am looking forward to this new journey.

WWD: What are your plans for the new year 2020?

For my new label ‚VISHN‘ I would like to keep my current output for 2020 with new releases and increase my awareness. As DJ and producer my aims for 2020 are to stay as productive as in 2019 and keep on improving my skills as a DJ and producer.

WWD: Can you take us through your new remix for Beatfreak Recordings?

The original track by Haze-M with the great vocals by Süha has a really cool and housy vibe. I tried to combine my signature sound with adding new melodic parts and sampling the piano and vocals of the original.

WWD: How did you meet Beatfreak and the team behind it? Is this your first release with the Spanish label?

Yes it’s my first one on Beatfreak. The label manager Teddy asked me if I like to remix one track of Haze-M’s upcoming release. Excited to get this released!

WWD: Tell us more about your studio gear. Do you use softwares or real instuments?

I got a few instruments in my studio that I am using, for example my Sub37 and Nord Lead. But I prefer using digital instruments such as Omnisphere. I always try to switch between the elements I am using and not always stick with one instrument.

WWD: Where are your next shows?

I will end this year with a show at my residency ‚Harry Klein‘. Next year I will be back with a debut show in Istanbul, Nuremberg and Innsbruck and of course lots of other highlights to be announced.
