Umek is back on his label 1605 with a two track EP made in collaboration with Cosmic Boys and Teenage Mutants. Based in Slovenia, UMEK boasts a career than spans over two decades, and his back catalogue includes many iconic anthems that have spanned generations. In recent times his music can be found on labels like Intec, Suara, Tronic and Filth on Acid. UMEK is also personally responsible for kickstarting the electronic music scene in his home country by first organizing illegal raves and then becoming one of Slovenia’s most wanted export products and number one music ambassador to the whole world.

1605 was relaunched in 2019 and since then it’s become a powerhouse of the techno genre with two of the label’s recent releases both currently placed inside Beatport’s Top 10 Sales Chart.

Teenage Mutants recently dropped a solo EP on 1605, and this time the German duo are back working in collaboration with UMEK, but their solo music can also be found on other high-flying labels such as Terminal M, Noir Music, Set About and Octopus Records.

Cosmic Boys are making their debut on 1605, and their collaboration with UMEK is the perfect way for them to become a part of the label’s family. Hailing from France, the Cosmic Boys are rapidly rising through the ranks of the world’s techno community with notable releases on their own Legend imprint plus others including Popof’s label Form.

‘Evolution’ made in collaboration with Cosmic Boys opens the release, and it features UMEK’s trademark groove with pulsating synths and rolling percussion. Drawing you in with alluring vocals and hints of euphoria, it’s the perfect blend of dark and light as the shadowy atmosphere is both dark and intense.

Second of the tracks made by UMEK and Teenage Mutants is the high velocity cut ‘Feels Like A Tunnel’, which has dramatic synths that burst forth from the frantic melody, which gives the track and underpinning sense of urgency. Filter sweeps add to the suspense before each drop unleashes its fury upon the dance floor.

Peak time techno made for the club, this EP is everything fans have come to expect from UMEK and his label 1605. You can listen to the full premiere of ‘Evolution’ exclusively on When We Dip. Enjoy!
