Reed Kackley, the Brooklyn-based producer operating under the moniker BAILE, makes texturally rich dance music inspired by house and downtempo. He creates textured electronic compositions that blend foley recordings and warm analog synthesizers with subtle ambient elements and the occasional full vocal performance from artists like Felicia Douglass, Szjerdene, Kauf and K. Marie Kim.
Additionally, he has been tapped to remix artists like Sasha, Beacon, Kauf, DRAMA & boerd. In turn his own tracks have been remixed by Tim Green, Baltra, Sasha, Lauer & Anii. He has frequently received airplay from KCRW, Pete Tong & Danny Howard (BBC Radio 1), and coverage from sources like Mixmag, Complex, Clash, Fader, Deep House Amsterdam & When We Dip. The last few years have found Kackley releasing music on Anjunadeep, Last Night On Earth, This Never Happened & ELEMENTS as well as on his own label Course. His single, ‘Amae’, was remixed by Sasha and included on his fabric 99 compilation.
Recently, BAILE gave birth to his latest output ‘Visage’ to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of Last Night On Earth. It’s easy to dream away and ease into BAILE’s signature sound accompanied by a mesmerizing remix from German producer Lauer.
We’ve asked BAILE how these tracks came into existence: ‘’With ‘Visage’ I wanted to make something a little more driving and techno-inspired than my normal sound. The track centers around a pulsating, gated bassline and is complemented by airy pads and fluttering arpeggios.
1022 is a moodier dance track that fuses stepping lead synths with melancholy piano chords and light vocal chops. This track began with the choppy beat and lead synth lines. I felt like it needed to be smoothed out a little so I added some subtle piano chords and swelling pads.
I wanted to pair these tracks together on an EP because they share a similar mood and sound with leading arpeggiated synths and quick moving percussion balanced out by airy pads and piano.‘’
