Jim Rider makes his debut on TRYBESof after a stellar 2020 including releases on Kindisch, Tale & Tone, and When We Dip XYZ, plus the launch of his label “Signs”. The EP has just hit #1 on the Organic House charts, and shows no sign of slowing down.

Supported by the likes of Lee Burridge, Nick Warren, Robbie Akbal, Gab Rhome, Facundo Mohrr, Be Svendsen, Newman and more, the title track Popcorn & Politics could soundtrack a sci-fi journey to a dystopian future. It meanders through pulsating synths and various organic instrumentation while retaining a solid dance-floor groove.

Artemisa showcases Jim’s love of latin music, where Cuban keys meet a sturdy bassline and solid drums, while plucks, pads, FX and marimbas dotted throughout add an air of mystery.

Continuing this global affair, Forced Fun enjoys a Middle Eastern vibe with echoed keys and harps adding the flair and shuffling drums and percussion leading the groove before sweeping strings carry the listener across the desert.

Petrol Station Flowers (so called as it was created on Valentine’s Day) is an off-kilter beauty with marimbas and rattling percussion throughout combined with an unusual time signature and heartbreak piano chords to create a playful addition to the EP.

The closer Fools is a beach party of a track with hang drums leading the way and flutes, strings and an uplifting bassline to finish this stellar collection of music on a high and cements Jim Rider as one to watch for 2021…
