We’ll be the first to admit: we’d never heard of RFR Records before this promo landed in our inbox. And to be honest, we’re pretty glad that was the case. Why? Well there are few things more satisfying than discovering a new label, especially when their output is as good as RFR’s.

In the case of General Minerali and RNBWS’ Beton EP, we’re talking hard-hitting, acid-tinged whoppers that are sure to cause mayhem in the dance. Take the first track from Georgia’s General Minerali, Mars Generation – a gritty, unapologetic breakbeat cut that leaves few prisoners in its wake. Dry Water is equally menacing, leaning towards a futuristic dystopia with whomping kicks and whirring synth combos throughout.

Russia’s RNBWS soon steps up on Galaxy. The name does it exactly what it says on the tin, with hard-edged percussion cosying up next to a growling bassline to transport us to a world far removed from our own. Nothing But Hardcore ups the tempo but still retains a signature foreboding feel. It’s dark, it’s murky and it’s the sort of music that you can’t help but dance to.

Overall – a class offering from the Munich-based imprint. RFR Records may not have been on our radar before but they certainly are now.

General Minerali vs RNBWS – Beton EP is out now on RFR Records. Purchase via Bandcamp here.
