Frequency DifferUMEK returns to his label 1605 with a two-track techno release that also features his electro focused alter ego, Zeta Reticula.

2021 has been another big year for UMEK who’s had numerous No.1 selling tracks on Beatport in addition to many others inside the Top 10, and he closes out the year with what’s anticipated to be another chart-topping release.

In addition to his many releases on 1605, UMEK has a back catalogue that stretches back to the 90’s, and he featured on some of techno’s most iconic and influential record labels ranging from Novamute to Filth On Acid.

Zeta Reticula is the alias that UMEK uses when exploring his extensive set of influences that stretch back to the early sounds of Detroit, including electro artists such as Drexciya and Model 500. Expressing his love of analogue textures, broken beats and dystopian atmosphere that combine in machine funk grooves, Zeta Reticula is the name he uses to produce this style.

The EP’s opening track ‘Frequency Differ’ has timeless melody chords overlayered with thrashing percussion and underpinned with a pulsating bassline. Hammered home with the pounding of a monstrous kick drum, it introduces a hint of euphoria in the epic breakdown that’s trademark to UMEK’s style.

‘Binary Pair’ is the Zeta Reticula track, and it open with the thud of a heavy kick playing a breakbeat rhythm that’s overlayered with sparse melody stabs, before the introduction of sweeping pads that cut through the brooding atmosphere. Bubbling with intensity and overflowing with sinister intent it delivers a compelling listen that’s perfect for the dancefloor.
