Ten Systems unveils his new EP ‘Something About You’ on Luna Semara and Agatha Pher’s label Petit Matin. The EP comes with a remix from Afterlife’s artist ANII.
Like a dance of head and heart, ‘Something About You’ by Ten Systems sends intersecting elements sliding around each other: angled logic, blips of green-lit code, arpeggiated cog-shapes on one side; blood-tugging daubs of synth and stab on the other. The enigma of the something rolls around and back, with Sandhaus’ vocals steeped in dreaming mystery.
ANII’s roots in drum’n’bass are bone-shakingly evident in her jumpy remix. Adding a punchy, le[-right kick, she spins the moody melodic techno of “Something About You” into a deep-delving dancefloor slammer. Chunky, chewy bass bounces out the clean lines of the original, bringing the center of gravity down several notches, while huge stabs and rhythmic wobble guarantee that feet won’t stop moving.
