A Proton Music regular with his array of powerful original music, Subconscious Tales returns to the label with a 3-track masterstroke in ‘Eternal’. An artist with a unique storytelling ability, Ivars Tiliks has always focused on “compositions that take you to a world of energy, darkness and beauty” with “music for the spirit and body”.

It is with this modus operandi that the Latvian producer has overseen a double century of production credits signed to a plethora of high-profile independent labels that include Balkan Connection, DistroKid and Rimoshee Traxx. Moreover, almost fifty of those credits can be found on Suffused Music with a glorious collection of original and remix material.

Opener, ‘Eternal’ impresses with driving rhythm and whip-cracking kick that evolves into a progressive house gem with its grooved bassline and cascading arpeggio. Waxing and waning with ease, the bassline reaches a powerful crescendo at the mid-point breakdown as it resonates in dynamic fashion. Dropping back into a sumptuous groove in the second half, the track creates a wonderful rhythmic narrative.

The slightly more up-tempo ‘Laniakea’ once again inspires with its club-friendly groove and syncopated bassline sequence. Evolving over an 8-minute timeframe, the bass pattern develops its own melodic characteristics before heavily effected pads provide a moment of melodic intrigue at the breakdown. The result is a highly original and innovative piece.

The final offering sees the ‘Experience’ title track create a glorious symphony of melody that blossoms over nearly 11 minutes of meticulously produced electronic music. A true magnum opus, the track excites with stratified layers of counterpoint melody that all revolve around a central harmony. Spiralling off in different arms synth lines weave a magical path across the track to fashion a dynamic work.
