DGTL Records powers through a record-breaking summer with a collaboration between Parallelle (formerly Parallells) and French electronic pioneer Nicolas Masseyeff. Unmute is the 22nd DGTL Records release and is available tomorrow August 26th, 2022.
A perfect synergy of youthful energy and know-how, the combination of Parallelle and Nicolas Masseyeff is one spanning the breadth of electronic music. For those in the Netherlands, Parallelle are surely no strangers to you. The Amsterdam-based brotherly duo head up the beloved Klassified Music – a multi-faceted musician collective and electronic brand pushing the boundaries of musical storytelling since 2018. As a dynamic DJ/Hybrid presence, Parallelle has traversed the world, bringing their sonic symbiosis.
With ‘Unmute’, Parallelle combines their unmistakably groovy, dynamic, and powerful sound with French techno chief Nicolas Masseyeff. First touched by the musical bug in 1989, Nicolas Masseyeff has built a solid over nearly three decades. Starting as the owner of Southern France’s most respected record store before moving into DJing and production full- time, Masseyeff has released music via Stephan Bodzin’s Herzblut Recordings, Marc Romboy’s Systematic, Agoria’s Sapiens, and the collaborative label with Oxia, Diversions Music (amongst others).
‘Unmute’ is a sonic throwback to the power of melody and lyrical mystery. Whether in its original or dub forms, it is an oscillating journey into the funky, supremely danceable sound Parallelle is known for, with the mature touch of Masseyeff’s innate ear for atmosphere and warmth. Remix duties on the track come from Rotterdam’s Philou Louzoulo. A local hero and another DGTL favourite, the Wokoundow Music head-honcho amps up the energy for high-powered interpretations perfectly constructed for the kind of intergalactic dance floors he is known to rock. And rounding things out on ‘Unmute’ is the simple reminder to let it all out, follow the groove wherever it may take you, express yourself and ‘Free Your Mind’.
