When Jordan sent Darius these tracks as demos, there were so many good ones that Darius decided it had to be an album, and this is that album! Darius is a big advocate for Jordan and firmly believes in his talent as a producer. With that in mind, he has been playing these tracks in pretty much every set in 2023, from Ibiza to Barcelona, Italy to America, and further afield and they are always a highlight. Many other DJs have been asking for them and there’s a real buzz about Jordan at the minute. We’re sure this release is going to be absolutely enormous.
Jordan Peak and Moxy Muzik are two underground musical institutions and now they come together for this superb new album, One Of A Kind. The eight track long player is a deep dive into Peak’s signature sound which explores the dance floor from many different angles.
Peak is a contemporary tastemaker with a robust sound that never fails to make its mark on dancers. No matter the sub-genre he is exploring, he does it with rich musical character and has done so now for more than a decade. In that time he has played every major club and festival and released on labels like Edible, Robsoul, Moxy Muzik and Peak Trax. He now pours all those years of knowledge and experience into this superb and varied new album.
One Of A Kind opens up with block-rocking house beats full of energy and freshness, then Disco Nights brings heartfelt loops and smart filters to a freewheeling house jam that drips with soul. My Mind Was Made Up is a nod to the Chicago old school with its raw analogue drums and yelping vocals that bring the party, while Dale Dale is a busy percussive shuffler with rubbery bass and plenty of summer-ready charm.
The second half kicks off with more irresistibly feel-good disco-house loops on the excellent Call 4 Miss Anita which cuts up classic samples into something all new and irresistible. Euphoric is pumping peak time house with real synth earth and driving bass and Testing heads down a raw tech house path with fad-free drum sounds and vocal fragments that lock you into the groove. Peak’s Theme shuts down with a naughty old school garage vibe, wilting sci-fi melodies and filthy bass.
One Of A Kind is a perfect full length that explores different house styles from all new perspectives and brings plenty of unforgettable dance floor moments at the same time.
