Coming off the highly-touted ‘Clean the Turbines (The Remixes)’ EP just before the holidays, When We Dip XYZ is proud to kickstart a new era for the label with the ‘Superhero’ EP by INVŌKER, including a remix from Motip White.

Hailing from La Réunion and now based in Paris, INVŌKER has crafted a sound of his own in recent years, marrying innovative concepts, memorable synth work and a remarkable sonic research in drums and textures. Siamese, Innervisions and TAU are home to a few of his recent outings.

Motip White, a mainstay of the imprint, is establishing himself as the latest in a long line of Cologne legends. His songwriting prowess, complemented by top-notch sound design, has been featured on Innervisions, Frau Blau, Anims and When We Dip XYZ.

The title-track, ‘Superhero’ is an immediate attention-grabber with its tight groove, upbeat ad-libs and glitchy risers. As the tune develops, the celestial pad and main riff unfold into an ecstatic crescendo.

The constantly evolving arpeggio of ‘Requiem for a Detox’ serves as an invitation to an indelible trip. Soothing vocal touches serve as backdrop, building in intensity and sighing in relief as the different chapters of the track succeed one another.

Sprinkling his own vocals to the mix, Motip White comes in with hard bass stabs, driving hi-hats and a haunting chord progression. The new full-blown synths added by White play a game of hide and seek with the arp from the original, a symmetry between climaxes and linking thread.
