Marking label One People’s debut release, Parisian maestro Alex Wann presents the anthemic ‘Peperuke’, delivering a message of hope alongside talented singer-songwriter Nes Mburu. Having earned nods of acclaim from discerning tastemakers including superstar Kelis and the revered Keinemusik, Alex makes his debut on One People, the new label by powerhouse Defected Records.

In a realm of evocative storytelling and rhythmic magic enters One People, an Afrocentric record label birthed in the spirit of unity and the legacy of UK dance music institution. At its core, One People represents a vibrant tapestry of unique stories and artists with aims to unite creatives from across the globe. Setting the tone for the label’s grand vision, its debut release presents a sonic celebration and melodic groove that honours its African influence.

Parisian DJ and producer Alex Wann took the Deep House scene by storm in 2023. His track “Milkshake” was one of the hottest track IDs of summer 2023. It has garnered immense popularity after the Keinemusik crew dropped it at their Brooklyn Mirage show in New York. Drawing inspiration from Kelis’ classic vocal hook in “Milkshake”, released two decades ago, Wann skillfully transformed it into a brooding yet captivating deep house monster. The track made its way around the world and was embraced by notable artists such as Diplo, Pete Tong, John Summit, Carlita, Blondish and many more. Continuing his rapid ascent, he picks up the mantle as the very first artist on One People, delivering the captiviting ‘Peperuke’ in collaboration with Nes Mburu.
