Longtime friend of TAU, Ede returns to the label as part of a duo with the multi-talented Deckert. Together the two artists have formed a formidable alliance, with releases on Running Back and Watergate Records establishing their production prowess. Hot track ‘Immer’ has been particularly special for the duo, becoming a regular set closer at Panorama Bar. Now they turn their attention to TAU with three original cuts and two remixes from Bliss Inc. and Alan Dixon.
The EP kicks off with ‘Ghost’ and a fittingly haunting intro that captivates from the first note. A guitar riff adds a funky groove with Eryyy’s vocals complementing the instrumental perfectly. The indie tone of her voice merges with Ede and Deckert’s electronica to cultivate a captivating production. A sparkling blend of groovy and quirky vibes.
This is followed by ‘The Cave’ which percolates and fizzes with acidic potency. A steady build up takes us into repeated vocal, enchanting and energy-inducing all at once. After a short breakdown, the second part of the track focuses on expanding the instrumental elements before the vocal comes back in and hypnotizes us once again.
‘No’ takes things into darker territory, with more techno-leaning sensibilities at the start. By the time we hit the introductory breakdown the atmosphere brightens up with a female vocal clip and a ravey riff. The techno heartbeat remains, juxtaposed with the brighter elements to create a dance floor winner.
We then have two alternate takes on ‘Ghost’ to close out the EP. First up on remix duties is Bliss Inc. The Frankfurt-based artists takes us on a trip back in the days with a driving trance-esque rework. The pace quickens, the atmosphere is more euphoric and Bliss Inc. utilizes a retro bassline to great effect.
Finally, Alan Dixon goes for a typically housey interpretation of ‘Ghost.’ The low end is groovy and bounces along with the vocal taking on an almost jubilant tone. With the additional layers of synth work, this remix strikes the perfect balance of funk and soul.
