Roland Leesker has been one of the creative forces behind Get Physical for the last 15 years, and this summer serves up his long-awaited debut album. It comes after many years of working on vital album and EP projects with artists everywhere from Brazil to Croatia to India, as well as serving up his own steady stream of timeless tracks. ‘Searching for Peace’ is his brilliantly ambitious and inventive debut album, and this is the latest single from it.

The fantastic ‘What Is’ is a perfectly deep and atmospheric wedge of deep house. The dusty hi-hats dance over rubbery kicks, Detroit-esque strings bring the soul, and an old-school bassline powers things on. Subtle vocals pan about the mix, and the whole thing builds in captivating fashion while the gorgeous strings shimmer up top.

Remixer DJ Pierre is one of house music’s most celebrated names. The acid pioneer and founder of the Afro Acid label has helped define the Chicago sound almost since day one and has long been working with Get Physical Music. His Wild Pitch Mixes are legendary in their own right, and this time, he flips ‘What Is’ into a raw, physical cut that oozes soul from the golden chords and grinding bassline while an emotive vocal cry is sure to take things to the next level.
