Hammer and Lili Chan collaborate on this beautiful EP, intertwining ethereal vocals with huge synth lines to incredible effect on ‘Highland.’

When the pair met, there was instant energy and creative excitement. Multitalented Hammer, an illustrious figure in the electronic music landscape, is celebrated as much for his boundary-pushing DJ sets as his impressive musical output, counting Gerd Janson, Bicep, Jennifer Cardini among his enthusiastic supporters.

Lili Chan, who only released her debut record, ‘Wabi Sabi,’ last year with HE.SHE.THEY. Records, has had an undeniable groundbreaking year with continuous support across specialist dance shows on BBC Radio 1, a recent Guest Mix on 1Xtra, and a slew of impressive gigs, from Drumsheds to Fabric.

For this EP, the pair describe the epic influence for their title track: “Highland is about being awestruck by the possibilities of your imagination and the infinite boundaries of your mind.” Grand, euphoric melodies combine with Lili Chan’s own soaring vocal.

Meanwhile, on ‘Avalanche,’ Hammer & Lill Chan took inspiration from a renowned venue on their busy touring schedules: “we wanted a heads down club affair, something that would fit nicely in Fabric.” And when they did give ‘Avalanche’ its first public spin, the response from the Fabric crowd was rapturous.

Rounding out the EP are 2 outstanding remixes of Highland. First up, Lili Chan delivers her own Kurayami Mix, which means “darkness” in Japanese. Finally, rising star SYREETA takes ‘Highland’ on a thrilling, percussive journey with her distinctive remix.

You can now listen to the full premiere of ‘Highland’ exclusively on When We Dip. Enjoy!
