Marseille tastemaker Meloko is well regarded in the house world with a blend of Afro and organic styles on labels such as MoBlack and AZZUR. He takes great inspiration from his location on the South Coast of France with its gentle breeze, diverse cultures, and lapping waves. Konvex (FR) is also an AZZUR label regular who has worked to great effect with Meloko before now and is heavily influenced by genres like soul and disco. Completing this dream team is the anonymous Hyenah, a long-term player in the Afro House game. With his legendary label RISE MUSIC and groundbreaking production, he has influenced numerous artists, helping build the Afro House scene long before it’s current explosion.

Their brilliant ‘Champion Mum’ is a blend of authentic house sounds and new school production techniques, destined for big things on AMEME’s One Tribe Records. The bouncing drums have an Afro styling, while the synths are sleek and metallic to bring a future feel. The clean, filtered vocals layer in plenty of emotive feelings as the drums drive on and cast an ever more lasting spell beneath the majestic synth patterns and stirring melodies.

Just ahead of the trio’s thrilling release, Hyenah takes charge of the Select Cuts podcast with cutting-edge curation and relentless rhythm. Enjoy!
