The LP is centred around the theme of existence and the universe beyond our realm on Earth. ‘Hawa,’ delivered in Moroccan Arabic, translates to Love. ‘Galaxies’ encompasses themes connected to the questions that science is trying to answer – in particular, what is the fabric that binds the universe together? For Hannes, it is neither matter nor antimatter, but the human experience and, ultimately, love, that bonds us all.
Featuring the incredible Moroccan talent Walead, ‘Hawa’ is a stunning cut that has been uplifting dance floors around the world since the summer. Walead’s decorated history includes more than 200 concerts with his former group N3rdistan, a long list of contributions to films and performances around the world at many esteemed venues and events. His poetic output and deeply heartfelt delivery are intrinsic to the power of ‘Hawa.’
Opening with a strong pulsating low end, the track has an ominous start setting the scene immediately. Hannes steadily increases the energy, adding more sonically emotive layers. A heartrending melody punctuates the first half of this cut, juxtaposed with the melancholic feeling emanating from the lower end. As the tension increases so too does the impact, culminating in a breathtaking breakdown with Walead’s powerful vocals leading the way.
Walead’s verses need no interpretation – you can feel every word as his deeply emotive singing voice reverberates into your heart and mind, the frequency of love comes through loud and clear. After the breakdown, the track continues to build and flow beautifully. Hannes’ driving instrumental complements Walead’s distinct and mesmerizing vocals, which drift back into the track amplifying its emotional impact.
