Miami-born, Orlando-based talent Mateo Acosta, aka Slugg, has been crafting his sonic identity since the age of 15, blending a rich fusion of 90’s hip-hop influences and innovative house rhythms into tracks that captivate listeners and energize dancefloors.

Following his move from Miami to Orlando, the bubbling DJ/producer became embedded in the city’s music scene while establishing his own imprint, Getbusy. His tireless work ethic and undeniable talent have landed him on stages at some of the US’ most prestigious festivals, including BPM, EDC Orlando, and iii Points, with support from industry giants coupled with a growing catalogue of releases. Following his recent collaboration ‘Juanita’ alongside cousin Lousy Lover and his standout ten-track ‘Pimpin’ Ain’t Easy’ mixtape earlier this year, he steps up for his debut on Blackflag Recordings with the ‘Takeover’ EP—a three-track release showcasing his signature blend of infectious grooves.

Opening with the title track ‘Takeover,’ Slugg comes out the gates firing as slinking grooves, playful bass licks, and warped vocals merge for a terrace heater loaded with energy. Next, ‘Pimp Slappin’’ sees layered percussion, hypnotic loops and more signature sample chops create an irresistible, dancefloor-ready bubbler. Rounding out the EP with the vibrant ‘Shake n’ Bake,’ rolling rhythms and another iconic hook keep the momentum high from start to finish.

You can now listen to the full premiere of ‘Pimp Slappin” exclusively on When We Dip. Enjoy!
