Steve Bug and Herve Solar team up to deliver three spectacular tracks on Bondage.

A dedicated, energetic and constantly innovative talent, the “gentleman of techno” as Resident Advisor once described him, is one of the world’s most renowned DJs and producers. A true pioneer of dance music, Steve Bug, and his label Poker Flat, have been responsible for a sizeable contribution the European house scene over the last 30 years.

Discovering house music in the ‘90s was a revelation to Herve Solar. After learning to DJ, he started a few after hours residencies in his hometown of Geneva, as well as a radioshow on the first Swiss digital station Basic.CH. Something of a protege of Steve Bug, he has released on Poker Flat and the new sub-label, Sublease.

Opening their triptych with the tribal rhythms of ‘Test Drive’ acid notes and swinging hats get things off to a groovy start. Building tension in the first section as the bass drops the track goes into overdrive! A wild acid line in the second half keeps interest high.

Next up, the bumpy bass of ‘A Connection’ gets us loose and ready to party. Classically deep and wildly creative, this is two artists with a shared love of house music having altogether too much fun in the studio. The result: an anthem for our time.

Finally, ‘It’s Personal’ rounds out the pack with an intricately detailed deep houser with nuanced acid. Skippy percusion and a simple bass line get thing off to a rousing start before airy pads, acid delays and vocal adlibs send us off to wonderland in the most hypnotic way.
