Byron The Aquarius and iconic NYC Vocalist Brandon Markell Holmes return to Brooklyn’s essential toucan sounds label with the ‘Baddest Behaviour’ EP this November. Featuring remixes from Dam Swindle and an edit from toucan sounds boss, Robert PM, the EP follows Holmes & Toribio’s 2023 EP ‘Go Ahead’ EP which featured Byron the Aquarius on the remix, and marks the first time Holmes and the latter directly collaborate. The vinyl edition of the EP also features the first collaboration between Byron The Aquarius, Coto Loco & the Grammy-nominated Rasheeda Ali.
The ‘Baddest Behavior’ EP by Byron The Aquarius & Brandon Markell Holmes starts with the title track, in which lush chords and Holmes’ unmatchable soothing voice work together for an earworm house hit harkening back to the classy 90s. Tropical summer vibes and an edge of nostalgia pave the way for Dutch duo Dam Swindle to infuse the original with a modern garage two-step and expert organ melodies that will light up any dancefloor.
toucan sounds’ own Robert PM edits Byron The Aquarius & Brandon Markell Holmes ‘Baddest Behavior’ with a shimmering, delicate tone and additional organic percussion before Byron teams up with LA bass player Coto Loco and flautist Rasheeda Ali for ‘Freedom 4 OG’s’. This collaboration between master instrumentalists makes for a captivating dreamscape exclusive to the EP’s vinyl release.
The toucan sounds label has been one of New York’s most consistent labels operating in modern indie and house music, known for collaborations between new and established producer and vocalist talents. Since its inception in 2019, the label has featured work from artists like Musclecars, Dee Diggs, and John Barera and gained a nomination for ‘Best Breakthrough Label’ by DJ Mag in 2023. Most recently, toucan sounds worked with Mexico’s Paurro and NYC’s Steven Klavier’s P3rf3ct Strang3rs alias, which was remixed by Berghain residents Tama Sumo & Lakuti and UK scene stalwart Midland – with the label now adding another fantastic record to its growing discography via Byron The Aquarius and Brandon Markell Holmes’ ‘Baddest Behavior’ EP.
