Obscenity State paints obscure, emotional soundscapes across 9 track album, ‘Zoroaster’

Obscenity State continues her journey of unique electronica, painting soundscapes with new album ‘Zoroaster.’

Following up on the release of the triumphant and immersive ‘Gridlock’ on 9th October 2024, London-based electronic music producer, musician, AV performer & all-round creative, Obscenity State, will be revealing her awe-inspiring album ‘Zoroaster’ at the end of November. The nine-track album is a creatively-rich record on which the artist gives herself free rein to express emotion, taking you deeper and further into the majesty of electronic music spaces. Where ‘Gridlock’ demonstrated Obscenity State’s skill with sound design, the full-length album shows her mastery of the art.

“There’s a soulful, cinematic quality that I sought to capture with this album… I wrote it to strike an emotional chord with people. The visuals that I create for the live show draw that out further. Dance culture and music was always about more than hedonism for me, it’s about breaking down barriers.” – Obscenity State

From opening track ‘Tantrika’ (a journey from an obscure start, through a beautifully judged build and danceable middle section to reach a careful wind-down) to album closer ‘Recall’ (a paradoxical combination of gentle caresses and high energy pulses), there’s laser-sharp focus. ‘Gridlock’ anchors the album, providing a solid foundation for offerings including the digital paean to club culture ‘Over’, the relentless energy of ‘Quake’, and the haunting front-footed sounds of title track ‘Zoroaster.’

This is an album which burrows deep into your mind and lingers, opening the doors to escapism, experimentation, and release. It’s also a record which will find a home on the dancefloor, a late-night drive or on headphones as part of the no-longer-mundane everyday experience.

You can now listen to the full premiere of ‘Zephyr’ exclusively on Dancefloor Romancer. Enjoy!
