Hyunji-A, known as Hyunji Lee, is a Korean-Canadian music producer and DJ who moved to Berlin from Montreal. Following years of achievements in the underground dance scene, which earned her an international reputation, Hyunji-A is now debuting with an avant-garde release on Armadillo Records, ‘Staggered Dominos.’ The three-track EP showcases her classical piano background, which she has cultivated since childhood, alongside her electronic music expertise.

Title track, ‘Staggered Dominos,’ blends 90s-inspired electronica with her sensual vocals, prioritizing expressive interpretation and reflecting authentic human experiences.

The centerpiece, ‘Full of Empty Space,’ musically embodies the themes explored by classic science fiction literature. This timeless yet futuristic composition offers a meditative structure suitable for continuous listening.

The final piece, ‘Goodnight Oppy,’ transitions from a dark introduction to an uplifting atmosphere within the first minute, instilling a sense of utopian hope. Its psychedelic and playful sound reintroduces a drum section and hypnotic rhythmic patterns, enhanced by arpeggiated structures and improvisational piano segments that elevate the overall experience.

With this release, Hyunji-A skillfully combines her classical roots with electronic innovation, offering a thoughtful and dynamic exploration of her evolving sound.
