The 115th release on Darin Epsilon’s renowned imprint features a brand new original track by Rafa Silva, Chilean-born Berlin based artist and label manager of Perspectives Digital.
With a rich and varied background, Rafa Silva has always had an “infinite love for music and art.” Drawing inspiration from his roots in rock bands and a deep passion for classical music, he has crafted a distinct and captivating musical style. Since beginning his music career in 2018, his sound has evolved and found a home on esteemed imprints such as Ritter Butzke, Zehn Records, Poker Flat, and the renowned Balance Music.
Rafa is no stranger to Perspectives, having remixed Cary Crank’s ‘Roll the Dice’ in February 2023, while his track ‘Tabula Rasa’ was featured on ‘Perspectives Around the World, Vol. 7’ five months later. Now returning for his third entry, ‘Desires’ opens with a running bassline, a whip-cracking kick/snare combination, and ticking offbeat hi-hats. Evolving smoothly, an arpeggiated plucked phrase sets the stage before a filtered analog motif adds melodic dynamism. A new bassline coincides with a mid-range key change, adding gravitas before a stripped-back breakdown allows various motifs to merge with a vocal pad. A huge snare roll builds anticipation, leading to a powerful drop where melody and bassline unite for maximum dancefloor impact.
Nihil Young has been a defining figure in Melodic Techno and Progressive House for nearly two decades. With close to 1,000 production credits to his name, the Italian producer’s rise to prominence is undeniable. Boasting 325K monthly Spotify listeners and a place among Beatport’s all-time Top 50 Progressive House artists, his career has been marked by releases on prestigious labels such as Toolroom, Vintage Culture, Purified, Odd One Out, Einmusika, Beatfreak, Zerothree, UV, and Paul van Dyk’s VANDIT.
A familiar name and friend of the label since 2020, with remixes for Mehmet Akar and SHAZZE, Nihil returns to Perspectives a year after his high-profile original track “Night We Seek”, featuring vocalist Robin Korsal and collaborator Unseen. His remix of ‘Desires’ is a smooth and effortless reimagining that shifts the track’s key while preserving its melodic essence. A grooved bassline variation propels the remix forward, complemented by a spine-tingling lead motif and carefully woven original elements. With a powerful rhythmic foundation and driving bass layers, Nihil Young delivers an outstanding rework, reaffirming his place as a master of his craft.
