Los Angeles-based label Purple Love Records, founded by Brandon Lucas aka BL SUEDE, proudly presents one of its most powerful House of West offerings to date: ‘Fire (Kevin Saunderson, Dantiez E-Dancer Detroit Dub),’ a dynamic, bass-driven remix rooted in legacy, lineage, and the enduring influence of Detroit techno.

Originally featured on The Tribe of Fire EP, ‘Fire’ was co-produced by BL SUEDE and Mark Cole, opening with the commanding voice of American philosopher and activist Dr. Cornel West. Inspired by James Baldwin’s seminal work The Fire Next Time, the track is a fiery anthem of social reflection and spiritual revival. Now, in a monumental reimagining, techno luminary Kevin Saunderson and his son Dantiez, under their e-Dancer alias, inject the song with a visceral, hypnotic energy, marrying past and future on the dancefloor.

This remix is more than music — it’s a sonic journey that captures the spirit of two cities and two generations. Written and created in Los Angeles, then re-forged in Detroit, the birthplace of techno, this track is the epitome of house and techno as vessels of Black cultural expression. It embodies the ethos of the House of West project — a music series curated by BL SUEDE and Dr. Cornel West that reaffirms the genre’s roots and rightful place within the Black musical tradition.

Kevin Saunderson, a founding member of the Belleville Three, has long been a towering figure in global electronic music, with a legacy that includes platinum-selling group Inner City, his pioneering label KMS Records, and anthems that defined an era. His son, Dantiez, channels that history into a fresh and futuristic sound, fusing Detroit’s underground pulse with new-school versatility and vibrant edge. Together, their remix of ‘Fire’ is a testament to the past, present, and future of the sound they helped shape.

‘Fire (Kevin Saunderson, Dantiez E-Dancer Detroit Dub)’ is not just a remix. It’s a statement. A movement. A rhythm born in struggle, resilience, and vision. A reminder that Detroit’s groove is eternal — and that house and techno remain powerful conduits of voice, resistance, and celebration.

You can now listen to the full premiere of Kevin Saunderson, Dantiez E-Dancer Detroit Dub of ‘Fire,’ exclusively on When We Dip. Enjoy!
