Brooklyn-born, Berlin-based Brian Cid is a DJ, composer, and sound engineer who’s held residencies at notable spots like Kater Blau Berlin, Cityfox NY, and Do Not Sit Miami. He has headlined across the world and dropped his debut album ‘Meteorite Man’ on Balance Music, while many more of his genre-blurring singles have come on labels such as Supernature, Knee Deep In Sound, Get Physical, and his own Endangered imprint.

Josean Jacobo is a highly respected singer, songwriter and producer from the Dominican Republic whose Jazz, Neo Soul, and electronic sounds have seen him perform at international Jazz festivals including Barranquijazz Festival, Panamá Jazz Festival, Guadlop Festival, and Dominican Republic Jazz Festival.

Brian Cid is a long-time fan of jazz and the rhythms of his Dominican heritage, which he fuses here with Josean’s rich harmonic chords and organic percussion. He explains, “I aimed to create a laid-back, beachy vibe with a touch of abstraction, crafting a journey that feels like a refreshing dive into the ocean. Technically, the focus was on layering complex rhythms while keeping the experience smooth and easy to absorb. No overthinking…just pure, feel-good energy.”

The results are magical with chunky but rubbery drums making a bubbly groove that’s topped with whimsical melodies and doused in lush chords. Gorgeous keys shimmer throughout the mix and bring a cool, sophisticated atmosphere that transports you to a beautiful coastline at sundown.

You can now listen to the full premiere of Brian Cid’s ‘Ay Mamá!’ remix, exclusively on When We Dip. Enjoy!
