Sam Holland has had a big 2025, during which he has continued to establish his Heart + Mind label. His sound never stays in one place for too long and has incorporated everything from deep to tech grooves on labels like Sci-Tec, Four Thirty Two, and Knee Deep In Sound. He centres the drums in everything he makes and has become a favourite of the likes of Pete Tong, Danny Howard, Solomun, Laurent Garnier, and more. Gig-wise, he plays the most notable clubs and festivals across Europe, and for this latest outing, he taps into his love of tribal sounds. “It’s always been there with my previous releases as a B side, ” he says, “but here I explore it further.”

The majestic ‘Folklore’ is the sort of deep, well-crafted sound that stirs the soul, not least because of the rousing male vocal. Soft shakers, taught synths, and deft melodic sequences all bring the organic groove to life as the vocal soars, the effect is truly transcendental.
