Dowden and Mazayr stand among the more compelling names in the scene today. Each dabbles in a sound rooted in deep, melodic textures, driven by a refined energy. Across this three-track EP, they channel those dynamics into a collaboration filled with progressive dancescapes.

The producers combine on title track ‘Avalon’ for that rare beast of a production: one that somehow feels instantly familiar. At its core is an epic, melting-butter synth that sways with the measured poise of a cobra under a snake charmer’s gaze. It’s hypnotic, graceful, and impossible to walk away from. A delicious drum section and rolling bassline drive the track forward, combining groove and class in equal measure. In a word: huge.

‘Iris’ finds Dowden blending tight percussion with a syncopated bassline that’s charged with kinetic fire. It’s juxtaposed by a melodic block-and-synth motif that unfurls over the rhythm like a warm blanket on a cold night. As the track breaks down, gentle swirls of strings heighten the emotional pull before the returning drums ignite momentum once again. This is high-end engineering designed for deeper dancefloors.

Mazayr takes the wheel on ‘Echoform’, the EP’s most boisterous cut. A host of percussive loops and textured sounds lock together to form the bedrock for a bold, tactile bassline. Dizzying synths and syncopated FX build toward a euphoric breakdown that rises with the tension of an elastic band being stretched to its limits. This is a melodic tech-prog outing built for big-room dancefloors.

You can now listen to the full premiere of ‘Avalon’ exclusively on When We Dip. Enjoy!
