PAAX makes their Songspire Records debut with Hurricane, a collaboration with vocalist Monique that sits in the more reflective corners of melodic house.
The track leans into gentle piano phrasing and slow-building arrangement, with Monique’s vocal carrying a clear emotional through-line without ever overstating it. The progression is patient, the atmosphere warm, and the production confident in its restraint.
The release follows a steady run of work from the duo, including recent material on Sounguara and the launch of their own label, Pitch Surfing. That imprint has given them room to move a little more freely, showing a curiosity for groove and texture that threads through their output. Hurricane feels aligned with that direction, continuing their interest in form that evolves rather than demands attention.
Two remixes expand the release’s scope. Pakkio Sans pushes the track toward a more electro-leaning shape, tightening the low end and adding a touch of edge without losing the original’s tone. Sokur heads the other way, leaning into percussion and swing to create something more groove-led and understated.
The result is a release that reflects where PAAX are right now: measured, melodic, and quietly assured. You can now listen to the full premiere of ‘Hurricane’ exclusively on When We Dip. Enjoy!
