Prima Lux mixed by Luminescu

Luminescu (aka Louis Kutarba) is a Montréal-based electronic project shaped by Musique Concrète and the Romanian minimal movement. Drawing inspiration from the likes of Ricardo Villalobos, Herck, and Pierre Henry, his sound moves fluidly between psychedelic minimalism and hypnotic groove, grounded in an energizing, almost ritualistic spirit.

On the production front, Luminescu has released more than 20 tracks, including standout remixes and VA contributions on labels such as Minimadelic, Ambrosía, Solidó, and Defora, alongside three original EPs on Binaural Art (Romania), Psicodelica (Colombia), and Minimadelic Records (Canada).

Driven by a deep vinyl sensibility, his sets unfold as intricate journeys – spiraling grooves, textured detail, and a steady pull into the late hours.

Now, he steps onto our Prima Lux series to mark the arrival of his debut album, ‘Onirythmies I – Rêveries Australes,’ out now on Montreal’s Archipel. Written during a 10-month stretch across Australia – with lingering impressions from Thailand and Bali – the record treats dreaming as both method and destination, folding travel, memory, and sonic experimentation into one fluid state.

For this mix, he leans deeper into that world. Featuring several tracks he’s never played out before, it unfolds as a slow-burning, late-night seduction – laced with sultry vocals, tactile percussion, and finely detailed rhythms that twist and breathe. It’s less about peak-time impact and more about tension, texture, and atmosphere: a hypnotic companion piece that amplifies the album’s introspective glow while revealing a more intimate side of his dancefloor instincts. Enjoy!
