Simon Doty lists Peruvian-born, US-based producer Gio Lucca among his producers to watch in 2026, and taps him as the sole remixer on ‘Reup’ with this single. Gio is earning the ear of an increasing number of tastemakers with his eclectic blend of tech house, minimal, hip-hop and funk; we’re thrilled to welcome him to the Recess crew.

With this remix, Lucca says “When I first heard the original, the vocals immediately stood out. I wanted to take a more minimal, stripped-back approach and give it space to really shine. The goal was for the deep analog bass, organ, and vocal to work together in a way that draws you in and keeps the groove feeling hypnotic”. Gio adds; “The style of my remix sits somewhere between underground, glitch-driven minimal tech and groove-focused club music. It’s inspired by stripped-back records, electro-era drum sampling, and warm analog synth textures; elements that show up a lot in my music.

“It’s always special when an artist you respect enjoys your work. Knowing Simon has been a fan of my music made this remix even more fun to work on, and I’m excited to be able to put my spin on one of his records,” says Gio.
